FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Coeur d’Alene, ID - Citizens for Coeur d’Alene Public Schools, the umbrella organization for the YES! Campaign, announced its endorsement of James “Jimmy” McAndrew and Heather Tenbrink for the November 7 school board trustee race.

“Since our founding in 2012, Citizens for Coeur d’Alene Public Schools has intentionally refrained from endorsing school board candidates,” said Lindsey Swingrover, co-chair. “Historically, we didn’t want to blur the lines or risk the trust we have developed with our supporters.”

“Unfortunately, our public schools continue to be threatened by the KCRCC, a partisan group that aggressively campaigned against the recent levy that provides 25% of our district's budget,” Said Nancy Hart, co-chair. “They have started endorsing partisan candidates for nonpartisan trustee races. The KCRCC-endorsed candidates at NIC and the Community Library Network have created division, censorship, and control, wasted taxpayer money and threatened the future of these valued institutions in our community.”

Citizens for CdA Public Schools has always worked to be thoughtful and intentional with its mission of supporting a strong public school foundation in the community. The organization therefore acknowledges what is at stake in the November trustee race.

“This is a critical trustee election,” continued Hart. “Without levy funds, our schools will be a skeleton of what they currently are. Because of this, our organization feels it is necessary to endorse candidates for the first time.”

Jimmy McAndrew and Heather Tenbrink are supporters of public education and the District’s supplemental levy. Both candidates understand how crucial levy dollars are to Coeur d’Alene Public Schools. Citizens for CdA Public Schools is proud to endorse these trustee candidates in the November race. In their roles as trustees, the organization is confident Jimmy and Heather will support future essential levies and promote a solid public school system in Coeur d’Alene.

Citizens for Coeur d'Alene Public Schools is a group of local community members who value the continued success of the Coeur d'Alene School District through the passing of local levies and bonds.
